Boston Welcomes Air America Radio

AMERICA’S FASTEST-GROWING TALK FORMAT HITS BOSTON’S RADIO
The new home of Air America-Progressive Talk AM 1200 and 1430

BOSTON, MA – September 30, 2004 – Starting Monday, October 4, 2004 at 6am a new radio revolution takes over the Boston airwaves, AM 1200 and 1430 the new home of Air America-Progressive Talk. Offering the “other side” of the story that is dominated by the conservative talk show format.

The historical launch will be lead by Air America’s Morning Sedition from 6-9 and features radio veteran Mark Riley and comedian Marc Maron. Serving up the morning news the way you like it: in context and with a healthy dose of the absurdity and a side of subversion.

Stephanie Miller hosts 9-12noon. Stephanie has 15 years of major market radio experience at KABC and KFI in Los Angeles and other stations in New York and Chicago. The daughter of Republican William Miller, Barry Goldwater’s running mate in the 1964 presidential election, she has guest hosted on CNBC’s Equal Time as the liberal counterweight to Bay Buchanan.
Air America’s Al Franken takes over from 12noon to 3pm with the Zero Spin Zone. After debunking right wing propaganda with his best selling books “Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them” and “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot,” Al is taking he fight to America’s airwaves with co-host Katherine Lanpher.

The pm drive slot is hosted by Jones’ broadcasting juggernaut, Ed Schultz. Consider by many to be the progressive thinking man’s Rush Limbuagh. Ed talks straight talk from the heartland and pulls no punches. A former die-hard conservation switched his outlook after seeing first hand the despair in middle America. Ed is currently on a nationwide tour promoting his new book “Straight Talk from the Heartland” which could be listed on the New York Times Best Seller List.

A decade of tearing up the airwaves Air America’s Randi Rhodes hosts the 6-10pm shift. Listed in “Talker Magazine” as one of the most powerful voices in talk radio, Randi brings her own brand of impeccably researched and humor to the airwaves.
The nighttime is the right time for The Majority Report featuring Jeanneane Garofalo and Sam Seder.

“Boston is the birth place of the American Revolution,” says Dennis O’Heron, Program Director of Progressive Talk AM 1200 and 1430. “And the Revolution begins on Monday morning. It doesn’t matter where you fall on the political spectrum. What it boils down to is good radio is good radio and this line-up of radio talent delivers great radio.”

Alas, my favorite show, "Unfiltered" ( http://www.airamericaradio.com/shows/unfiltered/ ) is not being carried by this station. Oh well, you can't have everything, where would you put it?

Tune in, and tune out those conservative blowhards over at WTKK for some truth!!
